Your florist will be extremely important to you in the few months before your wedding. You want to make sure that they are someone you are comfortable talking with. Do they seem to “get you” and your ideas? Do you feel like they are 100% dedicated to making your wedding flowers perfect?
When looking for a florist, start with friends and relatives who recently got married. Also check with wedding venues, ask for recommendations, this a good source even if you don’t book the location. Here are a few questions you should ask potential florists. A) Do you have my date available; if so how many weddings do you do in one day? B) Have you done flowers at my wedding location before? If they have they should have pictures and ideas for you. If they haven’t, ask if they are willing to meet you at the location, to look at the lay out. C) Do you have a portfolio I can look through and reference I can contact?
Before meeting with a florist flip through magazines, surf the internet and browse books for types of flowers, arrangements and colors that you like and don’t like. Start a folder of the pictures to bring with you to the florist. Make a list of every flower need that may arise. This includes everything from the obvious (your bouquet) to the splurges (garlands for the staircases).
Finally make sure you are overjoyed in your florist choice, not just happy. If you are just happy then visit other florists until you find the one that works for you.
